How can I help?

A normal therapy session lasts between 45-55 minutes, during which time we can discuss anything that is important to you. I generally start by asking about your week or time since last session and go from there based on your needs and individual experiences. Sessions are generally weekly to start as it is important to build rapport and gain a full understanding of what therapy is to you. After a few weeks we can discuss every other week or longer as it fits your needs at that time.
All new clients will need to have an intake session scheduled first. This is a full 60 minute session where we will discuss all the general information needed to create a solid plan for addressing your particular needs. This session can be a bit difficult as it could open up old wounds in order to gain a deeper understanding of what therapy will look like for you.

At this time I am able to offer both virtual and in person (on a limited basis) therapy options. There are distinct benefits to both options. Virtual allows the client to be seen form their home, work or any place that allows them the privacy to open up. This can eliminate commute times to an office and make it easier to be seen at different times during the day. In person appointments are limited at this time due to available office space but are available 2 days a week. An in person session allows for a more personal interaction between the client and myself while keeping distractions at a minimum. In person is highly recommended for any family and couples sessions, as well as for teens who get easily distracted by their surroundings.

There are a lot of different reasons people seek therapy. I have several specialty areas and I'm always looking to expand my practice and knowledge to serve more people. I work with ages 12 and up, most of whom are part of the LGBTQ+ community. More specifically I work with:
Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Gender/Sexuality, PTSD, Low confidence/self-esteem, grief/loss,
Social anxiety and Mood disorders among others

I like to utilize a multi-theoretical approach to my practice as it allows me to draw from several different evidenced based models in order to best suit you and your goals. My main practice model is Solutions focused therapy or SFT. This model is a plug and play intervention model that allows you to leave a session with one or more ideas/interventions to help with your main focus area. Depending on your specific needs I can/will use other therapy models to meet your desired goals, these include but are not limited to; Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/CBT, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy/DBT and Family Structural Therapy/FST to name a few.
